Background:
In December and January Microsoft Open Source experts held a series of PGIs explaining the changes Microsoft has gone through in the past couple of years to become more open and provide the opportunity of choice to our customers and partners.
Some facts:
- More than 350,000 Open Source applications run on Microsoft platforms; that is 82% of Open Source applications on public source forges
- Microsoft contributed code to the Linux kernel
- Microsoft is supporting our customers to virtualize diverse data centers
- Microsoft is taking significant actions to ensure openness in the Cloud
